Timeline of the Company.....
1948
Telefunken GmbH is founded and vinyl manufacturing begins.
Two years later Telefunken and Decca merge together to form "Teldec Schallplatten GmbH". To begin with, vinyl records are manufactured on converted leather presses, then later on modern Toolex presses. At peak times our capacity reaches 250,000 LPs a day, pressing, printing labels and packaging them.
Udo Lindenberg, Drafi Deutscher, Hildegard Knef, Hans Albers and Catarina Valente are just some of the artists for whom we produced LPs.
1967
In 1967 Teldec becomes involved in the production of music cassettes, using duplication machines built in-house. These are replaced at a later stage by leading-edge digital mastering and high speed duplication equipment, allowing us to produce up to 180,000 cassettes a day using this process.
1986
The potential of digital technology brings the end of traditional sound production. The era of the LP comes to a close, making way for the CD age.
